Tight muscles in your upper back and shoulders are half the reason you slouch — when they're locked up, sitting straight feels like work. The ZeroSlouch Massage Ball uses raised spikes to dig into those knots and get blood moving, in a couple of minutes against a wall or under your foot. Small enough to keep in your bag, tough enough to take your full body weight.

  • Reaches knots your hands can't
  • Loosen up before you sit up
  • Two minutes against a wall
  • Takes your full body weight

How to use it

Three positions that cover most of what a desk does to your upper back.

  • Against a wall

Put the ball between the wall and the tight spot, lean in, and move slowly until you find the sore point. Hold it there for 20 to 30 seconds and keep breathing. Start here if it is your first time.

  • On the floor

The same idea with your bodyweight behind it. Lie back with the ball under one side of your upper back, knees bent, and shift slowly. Keep it off your spine itself.

  • Five to ten minutes

That is a full session. Longer is not better with trigger point work, and a few minutes daily beats one long go at the weekend.

Gets the spot between my shoulder blades

That knot I could never reach with my hands, this gets it in about two minutes against a wall. Hurts in the good way.

Lives in my desk drawer now

Ten minutes on this at lunch and my shoulders drop about an inch. Use it most days.

Firmer than expected

Took a few goes to get used to the spikes. Start light against a wall rather than lying on it on the floor.

Better than the smooth one I had

My old lacrosse ball just slid around. The spikes actually grip and dig in properly.

Good for calves and feet too

Bought it for my back but I use it on my feet in the evening more than anything.

Does what it says

It's a spiky ball and it works. Nothing fancy. Wish it came in a slightly bigger size as well.

Cheap fix for a long-running problem

I was paying for a massage every month for shoulder tension. Have not booked one since.

Holds its shape

Used it daily for six weeks and it has not gone soft or lost any spikes.

Slippy on tile

On carpet it grips fine. On my kitchen floor it shoots out from under you, so use it against a wall there.

Great after lifting

Twenty minutes on this after a heavy pull session and my upper back is fine the next day.

Bought two

One for home, one for the office. At this price it was not worth carrying it back and forth.

Takes practice

Getting the angle right against a wall took me a week. Once you find it, it is very effective.

FAQs

Does it actually work?

It works by putting concentrated pressure straight into a tight spot, which is the same principle behind the elbow a physio digs into your shoulder with. The spikes stop it sliding off the knot the way a smooth ball does.

Give it two weeks of regular use. If it has not made a difference, send it back within 30 days and we'll refund you.

How do I use it?

Easiest way is against a wall: put the ball between the wall and the tight spot, lean in, and move slowly until you find the sore point. Hold there for 20 to 30 seconds and breathe.

On the floor is more intense, so start against a wall if you are new to it.

Is it supposed to hurt?

It should feel like a firm, achy pressure that eases while you hold it. Sharp or radiating pain is not what you are after — ease off and move to a slightly different spot.

How long should I use it for?

Five to ten minutes a session is plenty, and you can do that daily. Longer is not better with trigger point work.

Can I use it anywhere other than my back?

Yes. Feet, calves, glutes and forearms all work well. Avoid rolling it directly over your spine, joints or the front of your neck.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little soap, then leave it to air dry. It does not need anything more than that.
